Stillness, calm, and quiet …
these states of being are scarcities in our modern-day, frantic lifestyles.
Can you remember the last time you experienced true stillness for an extended time? Calmness? Quiet?
Quiētūdō (old latin: quietude) is necessary for our busy minds to have rest, but even more than that, the space found in quiet is where generations of people have most often encountered God. The Bible is full of stories of men and women who encountered God when they finally retreated into quietude. Often these encounters were initiated in situations of desperation, but the connection continued past an initial cry for help.
This pursuit of God in stillness is called the Contemplative Path. Mystics, saints, and lovers of God have chronicled the rich rewards of this unique journey, the practices and tools they discovered that helped with this quiet connection.
In our own lives, we’ve seen these practices bear generous fruit in every sphere of our humanity. That’s why we’re passionate about sharing what we’ve learned in the Contemplative Tradition. The richness of God’s love and presence is well worth the discipline of being still.
We invite you to join us on the Contemplative Journey and seek God in the quiētūdō of your mind, heart, and soul.
